Decorating the Tree
08.12.20, 12:05 PM by Andrea
Jack and I have finally decorated our Christmas tree. So far, so good. The cat started to chew on the bottom branches, and we immediately sprayed her with water. She ran away, and didn’t come near the tree (or us) for several hours. A day later, and the tinsel is still in tact, and all of the ornaments are still up. Right now, the cat is laying in a box of Christmas presents. She is right in the middle, on top of the gifts, sprawled out and sleeping. She’s too funny sometimes. I’m hoping I can get her to open her own gifts this year, and get it on video. Ugh..with just a few more days to go, I have so much to do still!
A New Jersey Vacation
08.12.16, 08:51 PM by Andrea
Have you ever gone on a Jersey Shore beach vacation? I have. I absolutely adore the ocean. A few years ago, my family and I went to the Jersey Shore and stayed in the Jolly Roger Motel. The Jersey Shore offers a wide variety of entertainment. My personal favorite is Morey’s Piers. We spent one day at Ocean Oasis and another day at the three different piers – Surfside Pier, Adventure Pier, and Mariner’s Landing. My favorite ride was The Sea Serpent. If you are looking for a website with information about the perfect New Jersey vacation, Morey’s Piers website is a wonderful place to go. The website contains all sorts of information about hotels, attractions, and dining in Wildwood, New Jersey. Right now is a great time to start planning a summer vacation for the Jersey Shore. Morey’s Piers is running a special until January 9th. A season pass is only $240! That’s an excellent value, if you plan on being in the Wildwood area for the summer. If you are planning a short vacation, Morey’s Piers is offering four all-day waterpark passes for $90, regularly $136. I know that if I lived in the area, I’d be going for a season pass. However, I’m only going to visit the shore for a week this summer, so I’ll be sure to take advantage of the four all-day waterpark pass deal before January 9th.

Flip Fold
08.12.15, 09:44 AM by Andrea
After getting a new dryer this past weekend, I was finally able to do all of the laundry I had piling up. The result is basket upon basket of laundry – to fold and put away. I am absolutely horrible at folding laundry. I keep flashing back to an infomercial of the Flip Fold. Has anyone ever used this product? I’m curious to know if it actually assists in folding clothes. If it works, I definitely want to purchase one. Right now my dresser drawers look like a war zone. I can fold towels and pants, it’s just the shirts that I can’t do. I’ve never been good at doing the laundry. I obviously don’t take after my mother. My mother is an absolute perfectionist when it comes to the laundry. After washing and drying, she irons everything, folds or hangs it up perfectly, and organizes everything. I am the complete opposite. I can’t iron clothes, fold them, and organize them to save my life. At least if the Flip Fold works, I’ll be able to keep my drawers better organized.
It's almost Christmas!
08.12.11, 08:10 PM by Andrea
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is almost here. I’ve spent countless hours searching for the perfect gifts. Not to mention the time spent wrapping presents. I’m a perfectionist, which is never a good thing when it comes to wrapping presents. Everything has to be wrapped perfectly – a huge challenge. It can take me 20 minutes to wrap just one present. I know that I don’t have that kind of time, but I can’t help it. Then I get to a point of dreading wrapping the rest of the presents. Each year seems to bring more and more presents.
Our Christmas tree isn’t even decorated yet. With my demon cat, I’m not sure how I want to decorate. I’m trying to avoid tinsel, and breakable ornaments. However, all of my Christmas ornaments are from Hallmark, which may pose a problem. I guess I just have to learn to trust the cat and get into the Christmas spirit.
Wrapping Presents
08.12.08, 12:36 PM by Andrea
Although I love shopping for Christmas presents, I absolutely hate wrapping presents. I usually end up sitting on the floor for hours, surrounded by wrapping paper, tape, and bows. My obsessive-compulsive tendencies have me wrapping each present to perfection. I would love to just pay someone to wrap presents for me, but unfortunately I’d never be able to afford that luxury. I’m so jealous of people who have natural present-wrapping abilities. My husband’s solution is to put everything in gift bags. If I didn’t have my OCD tendencies, I would probably do the same thing.
Online Shopping

I am so happy that I decided to do the bulk of my Christmas shopping online. After driving past the local mall parking lot, it’s blatantly obvious that I would never even get a parking space. With sites like Amazon.com, Overstock.com, and Buy.com, who needs to set foot in a store for gifts? You could even buy your groceries online if you wanted. I don’t think I would ever go that far, but I guess it’s nice to know that the option is there. I love shopping online, because you can find coupon codes for just about everything under the sun. What could be better than shopping from the comfort of your own home?
Black Friday
08.11.30, 09:34 AM by Andrea
I went Black Friday shopping with my mom and dad. I have never seen a Wal-Mart the way I did on Friday. Usually Wal-Mart is crowded, but not wall-to-wall crowded. This year, people were going nuts over the sales. Every single checkout was open, and people were lined up halfway back the store. The woman in front of has spent $2400. On a credit card. We waited over an hour in line. Once we finally made it out of the store, it took us about 30 minutes just to get out of the parking space, and at least another 40 minutes to get out of the parking lot. I definitely think that stores need to have better security and organization for Black Friday, especially if it is going to get out of control like this year. Even something as simple as someone directing traffic in the parking lot could make the whole event much more efficient.
Making Pies
08.11.25, 09:33 AM by Andrea
This is my first attempt at making pies for Thanksgiving. I’ve made really simple “roll out the pre-made pie crust and put in a can of filling” pies, but I’ve never made pumpkin pie. I’m not sure why I’m even bothering, though. Jack hates pumpkin pie. And one can of pumpkin makes two pies. So I’ll have two pumpkin pies all to myself. I like pumpkin pie, but I don’t know if I like it enough to eat two whole pies by myself. I’m going to make Jack a blackberry/blueberry pie. It was going to be a blackberry pie, but I couldn’t find two cans of blackberry pie filling. While I’m not making the crusts from scratch, I’m using a mix instead of the roll out crusts. Hopefully everything turns out tasty!
One Week!
08.11.19, 09:30 AM by Andrea
Only one week until Thanksgiving! Thank goodness. As much as I love the holidays, our Thanksgiving is so full of visiting. And after all of the visiting…preparing for Black Friday shopping. I don’t plan on buying anything, but I go with my mother every year. I doubt if I’ll even go to sleep this year, as I’ll need to be up around 2:30 am in order to get ready and make it to J.C. Penney by 4 for my snowglobe. The snowglobe is the only reason I’m going. I have every snowglobe they’ve given out. Anyway…Jack and I have decided to make our own Thanksgiving “dinner” since it’s our first year in our own house. It’s really going to be breakfast since we’re planning on eating around 10 or 11. I’m really excited, and can’t wait to have our own Thanksgiving!
Tetris Party
08.11.16, 09:30 AM by Andrea
A few days ago, I talked about Planet Puzzle League being just as addicting as Tetris. Well, Jack, in his infinite glory, found a new WiiWare title for download: Tetris Party. Since we were planning on having people over this weekend, he insisted that we download the game so everyone could play. No one who came over ended up playing Tetris last night, so Jack and I decided to give it a try once everyone left. Tetris Party offers so many different modes that I’ve never seen in Tetris before. Jack and I can play against each other, or as a team. We are personally addicted to the Duel Spaces mode. It’s funny because we are constantly trying to out-do each other. If you can’t find us, you can be reasonably sure that we’ll be sitting on the couch, dueling in Tetris.
